The choice of color in the Roman Rite liturgy is regulated by the No 346 in the General of the Roman Missal:
a) The color white is used in the Offices and Masses during the Easter and Christmas seasons. Also: in celebration of the Lord, not including the Passion, the feasts and in the memories of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Angels, the Saints were not martyrs, in the solemnity of All Saints (Nov. 1) and St. John the Baptist (June 24) On the feasts of St. John the Evangelist (December 27), the Chair of St. Peter (22 February) and the Conversion of St. Paul (January 25).
b) The color red use on the Sunday of Passion (or Palm) and Good Friday, on Pentecost Sunday, in celebration of the Lord's Passion, the Christmas feast of the apostles and evangelists, and celebrations of the Holy Martyrs.
c) The color green is used in the Offices and Masses of Ordinary Time.
d) The color purple is used during Advent and Lent. It can be used in the Offices and Masses for the dead.
e) The color black can be used where it is standard practice in Masses for the dead.
f) Color Rose may be used, where it is traditional on Sundays Gaudete (Advent III) and Laetare (Fourth Sunday of Lent).
g) In the most solemn day festive vestments may be used more precious, even if they are not the color of the day.
As for the liturgical colors, the Episcopal Conferences, however, may determine and propose to the Apostolic See adaptations to the needs and culture of each people.
